Germany’s automakers are beginning to feel the dieselgate pain where it hurts the most, in sales. “Car buyers disappointed by diesel” headlined Daimler’s hometown paper Stuttgarter Nachrichten yesterday, reporting that customers increasingly forgo the oilburner. Especially affected are OEMs that aggressively marketed diesel as a clean and environmentally responsible alternative, a statement that is becoming increasingly hard to believe.
