Toyota takes a whack at side swipes

Isn't it easy to avoid the accident?

Toyota will unveil a new accident-prevention system that, when implemented, should reduce side swipe accidents. The system uses sensors in the road together with equipment in the car. When a car makes a turn, sensors pick up cars going straight, or pedestrians that otherwise would be run over.

The system will be presented at the 20th World Congress On Intelligent Transportation Systems, to be held in Tokyo from October 14-18. The conference will cover everything from autonomous vehicles to “Driving Behavior of Elderly Drivers and Their Safety Countermeasures.”

The Daily Kanban hopes to bring  you a preview of Toyota’s system on Friday, October 11.
