GM is no longer the world’s largest automaker. As a substitute, GM was proud to be China’s largest automaker. After all, China is the world’s largest auto market. GM lost that title also. Volkswagen has trounced GM in China.
Volkswagen is yet to announce global sales data on a group level.

We tallied-up 2013 China sales by Volkswagen brands as reported by Volkswagen so far. A few minor imports could be missing. According to this preliminary tally, the Volkswagen Group is ahead of GM by approximately 100,000 units. Official group level data are expected from Volkswagen within a few days.
