World’s Largest Automakers 7/24: No change.
July brought no change in the ranking of the top 3 global automakers, and no change is likely for the rest of the year.
Toyota global group sales are down 4% year-to-date as the company suffers from sundry production stops and market pressures in China.
Volkswagen is reducing its visibility by releasing stats on a quarterly basis, never a good sign.
Hyundai global group sales are down 1% for the year. Note: Hyundai division reports inconsistent numbers for July, saying that global 2024 YTD sales of 2,395,937 units over 2,148,176 units in 2024 resulted in a 0.9% decrease, which of course doesn’t make sense. In fact, 2024 YTD sales were 2,416,508.
