Volkswagen Production Torpedoed By Recalcitrant Seat Cover Maker — And VW Might Not Mind

Dieselgate failed to bring Volkswagen AG to its knees, but a small German supplier of seat covers succeeded. As of today, undelivered parts caused the disruption of Volkswagen’s production in six German factories; their lines will stand still for most of the week, and quite possibly beyond. 28,000 Volkswagen workers are affected, the company said today in a statement. Production of Volkswagen’s best-selling Volkswagen and Passat models has ground to a halt because a supplier no longer wants to supply.
